Masami Nagasawa and Suzu Hirose made it famous, didn't they? Sawayaka is a local family restaurant famous nationwide for its Genkotsu hamburger steak. It's a representative chain of Shizuoka with about 30 stores in Shizuoka Prefecture now, but the first store was in the neighboring city of Kikugawa, and this Kakegawa store is the second store.
That's right, now that I think about it, it originated in Kikugawa City. Now the headquarters is in Fukuroi City, which is also a neighboring city. I never imagined that a store that seemed like a local shop would become such a famous restaurant.
The Kakegawa main store had the same appearance as when it first opened for a long time, but it was renovated in 2019.
There's also a store right in front of the Tomei Kakegawa Interchange. Many people who have visited the bird and flower park, or those visiting as tourists, probably use the interchange store. On weekends, you often see many customers who have come from far away waiting outside the store. It
's extremely crowded, so I think many people enter after staring at the ticket machine and the waiting time, feeling like they're at a theme park attraction.
My impression is that the Kakegawa main store is relatively easy to get into on weekday evenings with no waiting time, but what do you think? Between the Interchange store and the Kakegawa main store, I think the Interchange store is generally busier.
As part of work-style reforms, Thursdays have been a regular closing day since 2024. You
might have to be prepared to wait on weekends, but if you're visiting Shizuoka as a tourist, please do stop by as a memento of your trip.
