Located in Kakegawa City (formerly Ohto Town), Shizuoka Prefecture, this mountain castle from the Warring States period was the site of fierce battles between Tokugawa Ieyasu and Takeda Katsuyori. Built on Mt. Tsuruo at an elevation of 132 meters, it was known as an impregnable fortress.
The castle ruins are now a hiking course.
It is popular among japanese history buffs and japanese castle enthusiasts.
